Privacy Policy

Overview

Thoth AI ("the App") is built with privacy at its core. The App runs entirely on your device using on-device language models. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers.

The only data that ever leaves your device is the text of a web search you explicitly start (see Web Search below) and the standard requests that download AI model files when you choose to install a model.

Data Collection

Thoth AI does not collect any personal information. Specifically:

• No account or sign-up is required
• No personal identifiers are collected (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• No usage analytics, telemetry or crash reports are gathered or transmitted
• No advertising identifiers are used
• No cookies or similar tracking technologies are employed
• No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs are included in the App

Your Documents & Data

All documents (PDFs) you import into Thoth AI are processed and stored entirely on your device. This includes:

• Knowledgebases — created and stored locally in the app's sandboxed storage
• Embeddings & vector data — generated on-device and stored in a local database
• Chat history — saved on your device, in the app's protected storage, so you can return to past conversations; it is never uploaded anywhere
• LLM inference — all AI processing happens on-device; your questions and the AI's answers are never sent to us or to any AI service. The one exception is the optional Web Search feature described below.

Your documents never leave your device. We have no ability to access, read, or retrieve any content you import into the App.

Web Search (Optional, Off by Default)

Chat mode offers an optional Web Search feature. It is off by default and only active when you turn it on for a conversation; a banner is shown while it is on.

When Web Search is active, the text of your message is sent over HTTPS to DuckDuckGo (duckduckgo.com) to retrieve search results, subject to DuckDuckGo's privacy policy. Thoth AI sends only the query text: no personal or device identifiers, no cookies, and none of your documents or chat history. We never see your queries. The results are shown to you and given to the on-device AI to answer from; nothing is stored off your device.

When Web Search is off, no queries of any kind leave your device.

Model Downloads

The App downloads AI model files from third-party repositories (Hugging Face, huggingface.co) when you choose to install a model. These downloads are standard HTTPS requests to fetch publicly available model weights. No personal data is transmitted during this process.

On-Device Storage

Thoth AI stores the following on your device only:

• Your PDF documents and knowledge bases
• Downloaded AI model files
• App preferences and settings
• Chat history
• Vector embeddings for document search
• A small diagnostics log of memory and timing figures — it never contains your documents or messages

Deleting the App from your device removes all of it.

Third-Party Services

Thoth AI does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services and does not share your data with third parties. The App connects to exactly two third parties, and only on your action: Hugging Face for model downloads, and DuckDuckGo for the optional Web Search described above.

Children's Privacy

Thoth AI does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since the App collects no personal data from any user, it is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Since we collect no user data, we have no means to notify you directly of changes.
